Oregon law allows you to recover money when you are injured by another person’s negligence, and your family to recover money if that negligence causes your death. Usually, this money ("recovery") comes from the negligent person’s insurance company. Also, the negligent party may be personally liable to pay some money for your injuries or death if that person has too little, or no insurance.
Injury or death can be caused by many kinds of negligence (too many to list them all), but some of the most common are: automobile accident, truck accident, bicycle accident, medical malpractice, animal attack (such as a dog or cat bite), and slipping and falling.
